Sir Keir Starmer is expected to urge allies to supply Ukraine with more extended-range weaponry to hit Russian targets during talks in the UK capital on this Friday.

The prime minister plans to receive Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky alongside what's known as "group of committed partners", including more than 20 of Ukraine's allies who have agreed to provide Ukraine defense assurances once hostilities pause is arranged.

Ukraine's president has been urging for several weeks for further extended-range systems from the West, a step that Russia has warned would escalate the conflict.

The Ukrainian president is coming from the EU capital, where he met European Union officials on the previous day requesting economic assistance.

"The only person engaged in the ongoing war who does not want to stop the conflict is Vladimir Putin," Starmer said.

Britain's leader will also reveal that a hundred further air defence missiles will be delivered to Ukraine ahead of schedule, as detailed in a £1.6bn deal concluded between the United Kingdom and Kyiv in last spring.

Diplomatic Momentum

The Ukrainian president arrives following significant diplomatic successes in recent days: Washington's action to finally apply new measures against the Russian government, and the European Union consenting to fund Kyiv's budgetary shortfall.

The Prime Minister is aiming to sustain the progress by increasing the leverage on the Kremlin to discuss an end to the conflict.

Britain's leader will encourage delegates to expand the delivery of extended-range systems following a successful strike on a chemical plant in the Bryansk region, Russia, using British-supplied Storm Shadow missiles.

"Furthermore, his depraved strikes on small children in a nursery recently show that perfectly obvious," he added.

Two children were part of at least seven lost in numerous enemy assaults on Ukraine, which struck a daycare center in the second biggest city Kharkiv.

Financial Discussions

Sir Keir will consult Western allies on methods to withdraw Russia's petroleum resources off the global market.

They will furthermore consider employing blocked Russian resources to offer Kyiv with monetary support, although the initiative faced divided opinions and legal hurdles at the EU conference on yesterday.

The EU opted against agreeing a plan to use approximately €140 billion in frozen Russian assets to monetarily assist the Ukrainian economy.

However, the participants agreed to contribute to the country's "economic requirements" for the upcoming biennium.

United States also revealed sanctions on Wednesday against the Russian major oil companies, the state-owned company and Lukoil Corporation, as component of initiatives to add monetary leverage on Russia to begin ceasefire negotiations.

Russia initiated its comprehensive attack of the country in February 2022. Russian troops presently occupies about 20% of the country's land, comprising the southern region Russia annexed in several years ago.
