One extended voyage circling the Australian Coast has been cancelled days after the fatal incident of an senior lady who was stranded by the ship on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been walking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the party for a break. The liner sailed away leaving her and returned several hours later after the crew discovered the passenger was not present.

A large-scale search operation discovered her person the subsequent day.

Officials are looking into the incident, together with police and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the shipping company announced that passengers and staff on the vessel were notified that the remainder of the journey had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and previous mechanical issues".

The offspring of the victim said that her relatives was "shocked and saddened that the ship left the island after an organised tour without my mum".

Through her comments, she described her parent as an "vigorous 80-year-old" who was a participant of a bushwalking organization.

"From the little information we have been informed, it appears that there was a lapse of attention and basic judgment," she said.

She added that she hoped the investigation would be able to determine what "the company should have performed that might have protected Mother's existence".

"Based on information from the police that it was a extremely warm period, and mum fell ill on the mountain ascent," she revealed.

"They requested her to return, without accompaniment. Then the vessel left, reportedly without conducting a roll call.

"At some stage in that chain of events, or soon after, mother passed away, alone."

Organization Response

Through an announcement, the Head verified that the organization was "cooperating fully with officials to support their investigation".

He mentioned that the organization was "very regretful that this has transpired" and had provided its total backing to the family.

Shipping Sector Standards

The vessel accommodates up to a hundred twenty travelers with 46 personnel, according to company data. It was specifically designed to reach isolated locations of Australia's shoreline and is outfitted with "tenders" - small boats used to ferry travelers on day excursions.
