Presence
Steven Soderbergh challenges his directorial skills in this clever ghostly tale shot entirely from the perspective of the spirit. As a family including mother Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe occupies their new suburban house, the camera – AKA the Presence – shadows their actions. The teen shows signs of conscious of the ghostly being, and it looks like guarding her. Yet what is the reason? This is an entertaining concept that avoids overstaying, featuring a surprise that could catch you off guard. Saturday 11 October, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, the Sky channel

The Black Phone Horror
The director's contained scarefest remains effective even without a sequel. Set in the late 70s in Denver, a series of kidnappings has made the youth frightened. After Finney gets captured by the villain and locked up in a dungeon, he fears a terrible outcome. But the disconnected phone in the room continues to ring, with eerie communicators providing assistance, while the prophetic visions from his sibling Gwen could save him. A solid creepfest. This Saturday, late evening, Film4
This Dramatic Portrait
In the battle between faith and wealth, the victory is clear for Mammon in Michael Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top true story of the disgraced televangelist and her felon spouse. The actor portrays the corrupt Bakker, who states early on, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye set about monetising the nation's Christian beliefs. It's a riot of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, however the lead actress manages to depict the character in a likable light. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
