'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from distance, and his teammate promptly slammed home the loose ball before racing off toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory capped an extraordinary comeback given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the second half. In the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a next round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after they changed shape. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way Orient approached the match.

City's Quality

"Physically they are outstanding but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they always find their target and they are adept at dictate and slow down a game. You can think you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It requires a strong mentality and concentration just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly achieved similar status in Wales. At the London club he linked up again with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at lower division the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that growth for both domestically and internationally, excelling for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including two matches fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This represents an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his parent, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

His single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was shut owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he recalls, smiling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to socialize with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on London's Central line after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
